The Legacy of HR® Lubricating Jelly dates back to 1925 when the HR® formula was imported from Germany. Soon thereafter, Holland-Rantos began marketing the original "Vaginal Jelly" to be known as HR® Lubricating Jelly.

Medical & Family Use
In the 1940s, the Holland-Rantos Co., and its HR® branded product line was sold to Young's Rubber Co., which manufactured the Trojan Condom.

1950s - 1960s
Hospital Use
HR® Lubricating Jelly has been used in a variety of medical applications, including surgical and reproductive therapies, as well as the development of the transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator in the 1950s. It was first used as a primary echogenic medium for ultrasonic procedures dating back to the early 1960s.

With its rich history in hand, during the 1970s and 1980s, HR® Lubricating Jelly morphed itself into the go-to medical lubricant that controlled a significant market share in the medical world. HR® Lubricating Jelly has always been considered a premium medical lubricant that offers a Universal appeal throughout the entire medical community.

In 1985, the HR® brand was sold to Carter-Wallace; in 1999, they ceased operations.

2010 to 2012
Medical Use
In 2002, the mission to bring HR® Lubricating Jelly began; in 2007 a 32-month historical manufacturing and distribution study ensued. January 2010, HR® Lubricating Jelly achieved Pre-amendment Status by the FDA; this was the first of its kind to be granted since May 28, 1976 when the 510(k) processes began.

2012 to Present
Medical Use
In 2012, HR® began offering HR® Lubricating Jelly in various packaging formats that included barcodes to accommodate the demand of single-use. HR was the first lubricant on the market to be “BPOC” compliant - Barcoded to the Point Of Care, as a result, HR® reinvented its presentation, structure, and design to accommodate the demands of both the health system and the patient giving a more modern look to the HR® Lubricating Jelly brand.
